I have gotten less writing done this weekend than I was counting on, largely due to having to delve into deep and previously un-navigated (by me) financial waters. But today was better, I finished off the first interview scene and got into the subsequent discussion between B&G. So I’m pleased.

In non-writing news, I’ve put a new blog post up on LJ.

Who knew it was possible, right? Anyway, I have actually been writing today, though I did not get as far as I would have liked. I’m having to work my head back into it after all last week’s excitement over buying a used bookstore. (If you want to hear about it, check out my LJ blog here.) So Bethancourt and Gibbons have gone to bed very late and Gibbons at least has to get up very early in the morning.

Bad Author Finally Updates Site

So I have finished the fantasy novel I’ve been working on, working title being THE DEATH OF A PRINCE. My incomparable agent has the query, and we’re all waiting here at the Chan house to see if she likes it & thinks she can sell it. I will not tease anyone with details in case she doesn’t and can’t.

So on Friday I settled in and started on the new Bethancourt-Gibbons novel. I really like the beginning. Of course, that’s not to say that a couple of months from now I won’t re-read it and stare slack-jawed at it, wondering what on earth I was thinking. But right now, I like it a lot. The bad news is that Book 5 (no working title yet) will likely not be traditionally published. But for those who like the series, I’ll publish it as an e-book. I am hoping to have the first draft finished by summer’s end, but we’ll see. I have been known to be unduly optimistic about such things before. This one will take place in London, starting with the crime scene in Camden Town.

Yes! I have finally managed to put up the radio interview I did on WQCS (the local NPR station). Many things interfered with this happening sooner, mostly me being disorganized. And thinking I was moving. Then thinking I was not moving. (It’s a long story, an amazing amount of it uninteresting.)

Anyway, here it finally is, over on the home page.

More Radio Interview

I’m told by my stalwart neighbors that the interview went very well. It’ll be re-broadcast tonight at 7 pm on WQCS 88.9. I previously said you could listen to it online whenever, but that may not be true. So my neighbors are recording it tonight and then I will try to post it here. I’m not actually sure how one goes about posting an MP3 file, or if the site will even accommodate it, so stay tuned.

Odd Bits

So my neighbour Mary is reading A Spider on the Stairs. And she says she’s reading along, all caught up in the story, when she runs across a mention of Burnsall (a small village in Wharfedale). And her first thought is, “Burnsall! We’ve been there.” And her next thought is, “Doh, of course I’ve been there–we went with Cassie when she was researching this book!”

Oddly, both she and another friend have remarked that they don’t hear my voice in this book as much as they did in others–and they both think this one is my best so far. I’m not sure what that means. Possibly I’m turning into someone else?
